Up-and-coming director Nia Dinata addresses the tradition and injustices of polygamy in Indonesia today, creating a compelling and sometimes humorous portrait of a complex social practice.
In this film, Dinata interweaves the stories of three very different women, each of whom has developed her own personal response to the practice.
In Bahasa Indonesian with English subtitles.

Artists
Born Nurkurniati Aisyah Dewi in 1970, Nia started out as an apprentice reporter at a private Indonesian television station and began her career making video clips and commercials. A graduate of Elizabethtown College, Pennsylvania, Nia also took a course on film production at New York University.
